1-2: Had to be really bad, likely to never even mention watching.

2.5: Even though it is half of 5, I consider this a little worse than mid. We do high standards for our films around these parts.

3-3.5: Both equal mid to me, half a star extra if I am feeling a little mixed.

4: Most common rating, great story probably just mid acting.

4.5: ALMOST perfect, great acting, story, it is just the little things that count. Usually 4.5 if it dragged on too long.

5: PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT! Performances that immersed me, cinematography that stunned me, a story that left me thinking for days.

DRACULA

Dracula: A Love Tale makes it's American theatrical release February 6th 2026. A French film which takes place between the 15th and 19th century about you guessed it, Dracula. Beautiful costumes and set design, encapsulated the victorian gothic aesthetic of the classic story. The makeup is a whole other story, WOW! The effects given to ancient Dracula was truly amazing and off putting. Early release at AMC advertised it as a horror movie, apart from the vampires, it was really a romance movie. At times I felt as though it dragged on a bit too long, could have cut a few shots. Speaking of shots, had some breath taking shots showing the castle Dracula resides. However, you can tell they love a good transition where someone/something covers the camera leading to another shot. Hate the player not the game I suppose. Acting was decent, unsure if they meant to portray certain moments as comedic but it led to a few giggles in the audience anyways. The ending felt confusing, this feeling was shared by others I watched it with. I had no questions up until the end when random things started happening which led to my state of confusion. Overall 3/5
